**Everything About the Snapdragon 680 8-Core Chip**

Introduced by Qualcomm in October 2021, the Snapdragon 680 8-core processor offers CPU performance comparable to the high-end Snapdragon 835. So, what makes the Snapdragon 680 8-core so special? Let’s explore everything about this chip in this article!

**All About the Snapdragon 680 8-Core Chip**

The Snapdragon 680 8-core processor features 8 64-bit cores, including 4 high-performance Kryo 265 Gold cores (customized based on Cortex-A73) and 4 power-efficient Kryo 265 Silver cores (customized based on Cortex-A53). The maximum clock speeds for these Kryo 265 cores are 2.4 GHz and 1.8 GHz, respectively, matching the CPU speeds of the Snapdragon 835, making the Snapdragon 680 8-core a compelling choice for users.

Built on an advanced 6nm process, the Snapdragon 680 8-core is equipped with an Adreno 610 GPU, which delivers superior performance compared to its predecessor. It supports Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2520) and a 90 Hz refresh rate. It also decodes video formats including H.264 (AVC), H.265 (HEVC), VP8, and VP9 effectively.

The Snapdragon 680 8-core supports LPDDR4X RAM with speeds up to 2.1 GHz and UFS 3.2 technology for storage. It also features Quick Charge 3.0 technology, allowing for a 50% charge in just half an hour.

In terms of wireless connectivity, the Snapdragon 680 8-core integrates modern technologies such as Qualcomm FastConnect 6100 (Wi-Fi), providing high-speed, stable signal connectivity and good Wi-Fi call quality. It also includes Bluetooth 5.1, supporting Qualcomm TrueWireless Technology and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive Audio, technologies commonly found in high-end True Wireless earphones.

The Snapdragon 680 8-core features the Qualcomm Spectra 346 image signal processor (ISP). Photography capabilities are enhanced with features such as Zero Shutter Lag, Multi-Frame Noise Reduction, and HEIC image format support.

The processor can record videos up to 1080p at 60 frames per second, supports up to three-camera setups, and allows for 64 MP single-camera photos. It is equipped with the Snapdragon X11 LTE modem, offering 4G connectivity with download speeds up to 390 Mbps and upload speeds up to 150 Mbps. It supports dual SIM with Qualcomm Signal Boost to enhance signal reception, speed, and bandwidth.

Clearly, the Snapdragon 680 8-core, although positioned in the mid-range segment, is packed with modern technologies that significantly advance the performance of smartphones in this category compared to previous years.
